In a world where the economic
ills of poverty, illiteracy, self-desecration from drugs, alcohol, and illicit
sex run rampant, an effort is emerging like a beacon of light that is
destined to make a difference. Stepping Out For Christ Ministries,
Inc., operates as a 501 (c)3 nonprofit community development corporation.
Founded in May of 2000, SOFCM exist for the purpose of providing economic
relief through the provision of a massive pre-vocational training and HIV/
AIDS Prevention and abstinence initiative. Registered and certified by the
United States Department of Labor apprenticeship model. SOFCM is currently developing
an international exporting link with the United States Aid for
International Development or USAID to bulk ship merchandise to the country
of Ghana and Sierra Leone. The development of poultry plants, fishing
feet’s and agriculture advancements.
Secondly, create oversea positions for American citizen as
apprentices in an all out effort to slow down the Black on Black crime
rate. The Ministry has formed a collaboration with the Atlanta Metro
area Department of Juvenile Justice, whereby individuals who have committed
minor offenses, are able to conduct their community service at the
ministry's establishment and area worksites. Stepping Out for Christ
Ministries, Inc. (SOFCM) is the brainchild of Pastor Sheila A. Smith, a long-time
community servant who simply wanted to see a change in the way the basic
human needs of people were met. Her husband, Joe Louis, former
professional boxer has transformed his physical, mental and spiritual power
to become a vessel for Christ to assist community development around the
world.
